Staff at Comber medical device company T. G. Eakin Ltd are celebrating after winning yet another business award this time in the form of a royal seal of approval.
The family owned company, which has just enjoyed a very successful year by recording a £20.5 million turnover, received the Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
Managing director Jeremy Eakin said: We are delighted to receive the Queens Award it is a great tribute to our company and the dedication of our workforce and confirms our continuing success despite a challenging economic environment.
Our turnover increased by over 30% last year and we anticipate further growth of 15% in the coming year. We are also planning the construction of a factory extension which will double the size of our premises, securing the future of more than 50 jobs and creating further employment.
T. G. Eakin Ltd, whose products for ostomy and wound care are used in 30 countries worldwide, were one of just three local Queens Award winners in 2010. They have racked up a list of business award successes over the past couple of months.
These include one of Deloittes Best Managed Companies, Belfast Telegraph Business Awards Best Small/Medium Business (also highly commended in the Exporting Achievement and Business Team of the Year sections) and third in Business Eyes Top 10 Companies.
They were also earmarked as One to Recognise for the future in the Sunday Times Profit Track 100 companies, compiled by PWC.
Winners of The Queens Awards enjoy widespread respect from their peers, a company visit by a royal representative during the year to present a crystal bowl and a special reception at Buckingham Palace in July.
They are also entitled to use The Queens Award emblem in advertising, marketing and on packaging for a period of five years, as a symbol of their quality.
